The 26th year-old festival stands out for its conscious pairing of daring artistic content and adventurous club experiences with an in-depth discourse programme, framing today’s sounds and music cultures within a shifting, hybrid global society.

DEMO Festival shows the world’s best motion design on outdoor screens in the public space. The full motion programme will be shown in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Tilburg, Eindhoven and Utrecht. A special selection will also be shown on XL and spectacular screens around the world

TypoCircle with lettering artist Seb Lester as he charts his life in letters, from student days to working for some of the biggest companies in the world to current art and design projects. The talk includes a section on designing a logo for a NASA space mission! Lester also describes how he became the first visual artist to be offered a one-year contract by Apple.

transmediale is the annual festival that brings together international artists, researchers, activists and thinkers with the aim of developing new perspectives on our technological age through the interweaving of different genres and curatorial approaches. In the course of its history, transmediale has grown from its beginnings as VideoFilmFest to become one of the most important events for art and digital culture worldwide.

Under the over-arching theme of ‘Design for Planet’, abstracts on the following three sub-themes will be called: Shifting Paradigms — From Extractive to Regenerative Design; Economy and Design — Innovating for Circular Economies and Policy and Design — Shaping a Global Response.
