News: Apple has just released a brand new events app.

Apple Invites is going to change the events industry. Why?
It's the first major events app released by one of the Big 4 tech companies (Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Google) that is focused solely on events. From the press release we can see that it will allow you to create highly personalised event invitations (each guest will have their own visuals), share photo albums and even track navigation in real time. All powered by Apple Intelligence, their Al.
But. There is one significant gap. It doesn't allow for ticket processing - yet. I think a lot of the event players have a significant challenge ahead of them. If Apple adds payment integration to its offering, it could be a problem for some of the big names.
Apple has a proven track record of disrupting entire businesses - by adding just one feature. Who remembers Apple AirTag vs. Tile, or Apple Watch vs. Pebble?
The idea isn't new - events are now a well-known lead generation channel - it's about time most of the tech giants started building apps for events.
While this will raise the barrier to entry for most new event apps, it will also make the more mature event tech companies less vulnerable to disruption. And they can build more on their unique selling points.
What did you think of Apple's new release?
