#356: The latest news from the world of design conferences

Explore unmissable events such as Inscript Online and IRL, from the Productized Conference in Lisbon to the Any Motion in Sao Paulo. Featuring tech, motion and design festivals, these events take place in destinations across the globe. Don't miss out!

Dear friends,
Many announcements were made last week, including two case studies. The first was by the Antwerp-based agency Vrints-Kolsteren, who shared a breakdown of the new festival identity they created for Us by Night. The second case study is by Collins, who rebranded OFFF for its 25th anniversary this past May.

Analogue Agency announced their Book Club for creatives, with the first event taking place on Friday 24 October at the Stedelijk Museum. The event will see Liza Enebeis, creative director of Studio Dumbar/DEPT, discuss the books on her shelves and her experience of collecting books. Redo announced the new dates for their 2026 conference: 2–4 October in Prishtina. Last Friday, a new two-day conference was announced: The Web We Want in Amsterdam on 17 and 10 June 2026. The organisers are looking for CSS talent to showcase their skills by submitting a bespoke theme for their website.
Birmingham-based Gather announced Flagging the Issue on Thursday 6 November, featuring four incredible talents: Greg Bunbury, Cat Phillipps, Craig Oldham, and Sarah Boris. Through their work and actions, these individuals have collectively addressed many of the major societal and political issues of the past 25 years. 🚩

The Magic ToDo app is one tool that has blown my mind this past week. It breaks tasks down into manageable chunks. You can add a spiciness level to indicate how much you need to break things down, from broad steps to very detailed ones. It's designed to help neurodivergent people with tasks they find overwhelming or difficult. I'm not sure if I have that, but it makes things easier, especially with projects you have never done before. Like planning a meetup. What are you planning?

Have a great week!
Thomas

Opportunities

  • Are you a filmmaker who makes films about graffiti, street art, murals or other forms of public art? The Blind Walls Film Fest will take place from 4 to 8 February 2026 and is looking for audiovisual works, ranging from short films to animations and documentaries. Submissions are open until 31 December 2025. Join in and let your film shine on the big screen!

  • Post Design has opened an open call in continuation of the theme 'Design After Design', together with Further Reading. They invite written critiques of the BEFORE (the research, histories and conditions that shape the beginning of things), the DURING (the processes, power dynamics and decisions embedded in the creative process) and the AFTER (the systems, consequences and lived realities that unfold long after launch).

They are looking for writing that delves into the complexities of design, exploring its politics, contradictions and potential. The what was, what is and what ifs. We are seeking contributions that explore design not just as a discipline, but also as a site of tension between intention and impact, aesthetics and ethics, and creation and consequence. Essays, think pieces and experiments are welcome. The proposal window closes at the end of October, max. 300 words. Paid contributions upon publication.

  • Open call for submissions for an upcoming edition of Slanted Magazine dedicated to digital tools—with a focus on unconventional applications and creative utilities that go beyond industry standards. Slanted Magazine is looking for small-scale, experimental, or lesser-known tools that help shape both the big picture and the finer details of creative practice. Whether developed by individuals or small teams, or discovered and recommended by dedicated users, we aim to showcase a diverse range of tools that enable designers, artists, and creators to think and work differently.

  • CXI is Europe's largest conference dedicated to corporate and brand identity. It will take place on 12 June 2026. Everyone is invited to submit brand identity projects with a clear strategic basis and visible impact, or projects that set new standards and spark discussion. Projects should also transcend the individual case. Submit yours!
