Four Keynotes to watch from SXSW 2024

South by Southwest, the film, interactive media, and music festival, was held early March in Austin for the 37th time. Now all keynotes are available on demand on Youtube. I’ve selected four keynotes that are worth watching, back.

1. Death of the Follower & the Future of Creativity on the Web
   Jack Conte reflects on the evolution of the internet from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0, highlighting the transformative shift towards user-generated content and participation.

2. John Maeda's Design in Tech Report 2024: Design Against AI
   Maeda explores conversational design's history and cautions against the delusion of AI having human-like qualities. He highlights inclusive design, remote work, and his venture into the security industry, emphasizing resilience amid adversity.

3. The Science & Craft of Storytelling: How to Make People Care
   Cheryl Miller Houser discusses the significance of storytelling in captivating audiences and making them care, emphasizing its role in conveying emotions and human experiences.The presentation explores various tactics and principles of effective storytelling, such as making it human, listening to one's heart to find authentic stories, and taking bold risks to stand out.

4. Masterclass: Storytelling for Social Impact
   Dr. Ibram X. Kendi and The Emancipator’s Amber Payne have mastered the craft of storytelling to confront racial injustice in America. Their discussion at SXSW focuses on the power of storytelling for social impact, highlighting the role of stories in shaping thoughts, memories, and connections.
