Pictoplasma Conference – Berlin and Online (live)!

This week, the Pictoplasma Conference in Berlin celebrates 20 years of love for characters and their creators. For all who cannot make it to Berlin, FOMO ends right here. For the first time, the full programme is being broadcast live to Pictoplasma’s new community website, home.pictoplasma.com – that’s three days of artist lectures , panels, presentations and 65 animated shorts.

These schools are not your average summer camp. Think hands-on workshops, inspiring guest lectures, and a vibrant community of fellow design lovers. So, ditch the beach for a bit and unleash your inner creative genius this summer!

The New York School of Visual Arts MA Design Research studio has created a two-week intensive summer program devoted to research and writing about design. Participants will be introduced to a range of techniques for constructing compelling narratives about images, objects, and spaces.
June 3–14, 2024

Design West is an international summer design school located at the ATU Connemara campus in the beautiful village of Letterfrack in Co. Galway, on the West Coast of Ireland. For two weeks this summer, from June 15th to June 28th, 2024, participants will get the opportunity to work with leading International and Irish designers from renowned studios, including Thonik (Amsterdam), Gail Anderson (SVA NYC) and Associate (New York).

TypeParis is a 6-week typeface design program, which started in 2015. Over the course of the program, industry leaders will teach and mentor students in both traditional and modern craft techniques of typeface design. Located in the center of Paris, students will be able to enjoy the culture of the city and will also receive access to historic materials at key libraries in the city. Renowned guest critics, will compliment the daily program with unique perspectives around typography and design.

NØ SCHOOL NEVERS is a unique international summer school, held in Nevers in Burgundy, aimed at students, artists, designers, makers, hackers, activists and educators who wish to further their skills and engage in critical research around the social and environmental impacts of information and communication technologies.

Participants from around the world, of all ages, both students and professionals, have gathered in Porto every year since 2013 to take part in a two-week course that focuses on editorial design. They bring with them different cultural perspectives, different routines and expectations, as well as differing experience and skills. Some, at the beginning of their design careers, want to expand their knowledge, while others, as professionals, may also want to break their routines and refresh.

During the fourth Graphic Matters Summer School, Typical Type, you develop (new) skills, make friends, meet designers and typography heroes Team Thursday, Vera van de Seyp and Kristyan Sarkis and dive into the world of letters, characters and typography together with the Graphic Matters team.

Develop your digital design skills, experiment in contemporary design fields, work on personal projects with direction from industry experts, and join a community of like-minded creatives. Apply before May 1st
